Downers Grove, IL – On Friday, May 10th 2013 the new Shop and Save Market will open at 7241 Lemont Road, in the Downers Park Plaza. The ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at 10AM. The town is already excited and looking forward to visiting the new store, which will bring the international cuisine to the city of Downers Grove to appeal to both busy moms and avid foodies alike.
This newest addition to the Shop and Save Markets will offer 45,000 feet of pure culinary delight – from unique European imports in grocery department to scrumptious bakery and a produce department which is simply out of this world – with over 550 fresh produce items on offer daily! Add to this in-store food court which will serve lunch and dinner, and you can begin to see why everyone is talking.
“Last year I visited one of the newest Shop and Save stores, and I was very impressed” – said Downers Grove Mayor Martin Tully. – “I am excited that Shop and Save will soon be serving the area residents at their new store at Downers Park Plaza.”
True to form, the store will feature the European-style deli, offering a complete variety of deli cuts, many of them home- smoked and uniquely European (headcheese anyone?) In addition, it will feature many natural, soy, gluten and nitrate free deli choices for the health-conscious, as well as a variety of kosher items. Bakery will offer what seems like endless variety of delicious home-made cakes and cookies, not to more than 20 kinds of breads and rolls baked fresh, in-store, everyday! And when it comes to that special occasion – you can trust that with their talented pastry chefs, sky is the limit! Add to this full-service meat counter, with a large variety of ready-to-cook items and unique cuts of meat, going way beyond your regular chicken and beef, as fresh lamb and seafood is featured prominently at Shop and Save Markets, so the more adventurous of us can try a new kind of burger this summer.

Shop and Save Market knows their customers and what makes them tick – the “fresh to go” counter will feature variety of homemade Mediterranean delicacies like cured olives, hummus, tabbule, baba ganoush, as well as fantastic sandwiches and delicious salads, Greek yogurt and fruit cups – all made fresh, every day. The soup counter will offer more than 25 soup choices – from tried-and-true home-made chicken soup (best in town!) to pumpkin bisque. In addition Shop and Save Market in Downers Grove will feature a wonderful variety of “heat and serve” homemade dinners and sides. With all this, it may just become the busiest kitchen in town.
